Meet Bob Shingler

About Bob Shingler

Bob Shingler founded his advisory firm, KMJ Partners, LLC in 2003. As Managing Director at KMJ, Bob is recognized for his expertise in summing up business strategy, financials, technology, marketing, and competitive position, then implementing the right plans to accelerate top and bottom-line success.

KMJ Partners entered into an agreement with Vistage Worldwide in 2018, where Bob agreed to recruit and form a CEO Peer Advisory Board in Portland, Oregon in support of the local business community.

Since the launch of this CEO Peer Advisory Board in June of 2019, Bob has served as Chair and Executive Coach for a select group of CEOs, company presidents, and business owners from a wide variety of backgrounds and industries. In support of this group and their companies, Bob also launched a Vistage Key Executive Peer Group in 2020 to further strengthen his CEO member initiatives within their companies.

In 2022, Bob began facilitating the first international groups to participate in the Vistage Executive Leadership Program, a series of three strategic leadership courses taught by the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Bob’s groups were comprised of over two dozen Vistage CEO members located in South America, China and Malaysia.

Also in 2022, Bob designed and launched a Vistage Inside program for a member of his CEO group to support the development of a high performance leadership team within their company.

Based on his early success, Bob was recognized by Vistage in 2020 as one of the top five new Chairs in the nation in his first full year. In 2022, he also earned the Chair Excellence Award for being in the top 25% of Vistage Chairs.

Experience

Bob began his career as one of the first 100 employees of BellSouth Corporation when the company was divested from AT&T in 1983. He was responsible for Merger & Acquisition analysis and valuation as the company expanded into new lines of business. Later, he was responsible for financial planning for BellSouth Enterprises, a domestic and international portfolio of companies representing the majority of BellSouth’s market capitalization of over $80B.

As an executive for BellSouth International in the 1990’s, Bob served on the board of directors of multinational joint ventures in Europe, Asia/Pacific, and Latin America, where he actively worked with management to develop value creation plans to improve operating performance. He lived in Europe for four years serving as BellSouth’s board representative and operating executive, overseeing various joint ventures. Later, he served as Deputy CEO of a multi-billion dollar wireless operator in Denmark. Upon returning from Europe in the late 90s, Bob raised funding from BellSouth Ventures to start a national broadband ISP in Austin, TX, the only broadband internet service ever offered by BellSouth outside of its region.

Since then, Bob has served as President or CEO of multiple technology companies ranging from start-up businesses to billion-dollar nationwide enterprises, excelling in his ability to deliver rapid results to companies in need of new direction.

Bob is a Certified Exit Planning Advisor, helping business owners and their companies get ready for transitions. Outside of his current position as Managing Director of KMJ Partners, he holds a Commercial Pilots License with both single and multi-engine ratings. He is also an avid sailor/racer having competed on a national and international level.
